1. Choose a convenient appointment time.
After your treatment, you should rest so that the therapy’s effect is maximized. Pick a day off or schedule it after work.

2. Write down information about your complaints.
Every treatment is preceded by a subjective examination (an interview). During it, your physiotherapist will ask about any coexisting conditions, past injuries, traumas or surgeries, your lifestyle, and the type of work you do (sedentary or physical). Think also about when your symptoms began, what makes them worse, and what relieves the pain. At this stage, it’s very important to give honest and as comprehensive answers as possible.
To avoid forgetting anything important, you can write everything down on a sheet of paper beforehand and bring it with you.

3. Bring any existing medical documentation.
Additional sources of information are past imaging tests such as X‑rays, ultrasounds, CT scans or MRIs. They will help clear up any doubts your physiotherapist may have.

4. Don’t overeat.
If possible, eat one to two hours before your appointment. Physiotherapy is often preceded by a palpation of the abdomen, which can be uncomfortable after a heavy meal. Breathing exercises are also better performed on an empty stomach.

5. Wear or bring comfortable clothing.
Before the treatment, the physiotherapist will ask you to perform certain movements and will carry out diagnostic tests to make a diagnosis. It’s important to feel comfortable during this process.

6. Arrive a few minutes early.
Come 5–10 minutes before your appointment to calmly take off your coat, collect your thoughts, and relax in the waiting room. It may happen that the physiotherapist is already free and can devote more time to you.

7. Ask questions.
If something is unclear or you have doubts – ask! At the end of the session, the physiotherapist will answer all your questions and give you recommendations for further procedures.

8. What happens after the visit?
Remember to listen to your therapist’s information about sensations that may appear later the same day or the next day after therapy. The body reacts very individually to any intervention. Therefore, after the visit, try not to overexert yourself or expose the treated area to cold.
